Mariposa de Fuego: A Journey to Empowerment
Áurea Maria Altamirano

My poems speak about my journey of life through my explorations, processing of uncomfortable feelings, and stories never told from my childhood to my adulthood in order to find my path of healing: Dismembering and taming my fears to find my cure. I took the decision to become conscious of all of my traumas after a strong period of depression after my father’s death. I still have a long walk to go but now I am more conscious about it, so I can pursue my dream of owning myself. My journey goes through my processes; loss of friends in childhood, the influences of the life of women in my family on me, my feminism perspective, grief about my relationship with my father, my motherhood and being a Latina, as well as relationship issues and discovering what is what I am looking for in life. The book could not leave behind my native language, so there are sparks of Spanish all over the poems, and it contains my own artwork and also photography in collaboration. I hope you enjoy accompanying me in this bumpy journey.

The Day the Flowers Bloomed
Clara X Roque-Wagner

The Day the Flowers Bloomed is a collection of bilingual poetry that takes you on a journey of self-discovery, healing, and growth while wondering if the world around us has enough space for that. Guided by the voice of the author’s inner child, she explores the possibility of childhood memories and reminiscence. Questions are asked even if they’re not able to be answered. One question that always remains is, how can people blossom in a world that isn’t built for people to do so under capitalism and trauma? Is this the house that we are supposed to live and love in? Is home found in our bodies, in bowls of fruit, in different corners of the Earth? The Day the Flowers Bloomed searches for these answers and creates a playground to daydream in, to find connection and to find the Self. This book goes back and forth between English and Spanish to capture the totality of the author’s voice and to give space for others to do the same.

Mariposa De Fuego: Un Camina Al Empoderamiento
